Richard wodehouse

For over 45 years as a General Contractor helping owners
in the role of Owner’s Project Manager.

I formed West Coast Project Management Inc. in 2010 as a way of using my vast experience and knowledge gained in 35 years of building 240 fine structures and 10 years helping clients as an Owner’s Project Manager.

I started as a custom builder in San Diego County in Southern California, where I gained a reputation as being one of the area’s finest contractors. Back in 1975 I received my CA General Contractors License #305719. After 15 years I moved to the mountains and established operations in Telluride
Colorado.

Known for my ability to successfully complete architecturally-challenging projects, I developed a close working relationship with both world-renowned and local architects. In 1999, I opened a second office in Aspen, Colorado. I closed both operations during the recession of 2008.

I now work as a Construction Project Manager and Owner’s Representative based in Marin County in the San Francisco Bay Area including cities such as Tiburon, Belvedere, Mill Valley, Sausalito, Ross, Larkspur, Nicasio, San Francisco, Woodside, Los Altos Hills, Menlo Park, Atherton, Palo Alto as well as Sonoma and Napa Counties.

I keep up with new products and techniques by continuing education in Building Science. I have been a proponent of Green Building practices for my entire career.

In the year 2000 I was recognized as Builder of the Year by the Colorado Association of Homebuilders for my efforts in Green Building. I have received numerous other national and regional awards.

In April 2010 I traveled to Haiti with the nonprofit Helping Hands (now called All Hands) { http://hands.org/ } to help rebuild after the January 2010 earthquake.

Client Feedback

{We hired Richard as an Owner’s Construction Project Manager for a renovation/expansion project at our home in Tiburon in Marin County that was rapidly spinning out of control. He definitely saved the house. He also probably saved the marriage.

{Thanks so much for being here for us during this tumultuous time with our Sonoma construction project. I appreciate your level headed and fair minded approach to the situation.

{Unless you have years of expertise in construction, if you are going to build or re-model, I would strongly recommend that your first call be to Richard Wodehouse. As an owners representative, you have a friend in the construction industry.

{It’s always nice to work with Richard! Not only does he expect high standards but his decision process as the job goes on is very rare and helpful. I find that his clients are extremely satisfied and truly feel that everything is done right.

{Polsky Perlstein Architects worked closely with Richard Wodehouse to construct substantial improvements to a home that involved transforming it into a beautiful contemporary residence. Richard was adept in providing the level of care necessary to ensure a beautiful finished product. We recommend Richard as a highly skilled project manager and problem-solver.

{Richard, just want to say how appreciative we are with you as our project manager. I don’t know how we could have done it without you. We are benefiting from your years of experiences in the building industry. Thank you. We look forward to spending our first weekend at the house!

{Your contribution has made my job (and life) a lot easier and positively impacted the project by keeping us moving forward in a timely fashion. The work you’ve been doing to get us this close to contractor selection has been key in allowing us any chance to meet our desired timeline. I agree with Doug’s statement that having you as an available consultant as we move forward could be advantageous to the project…. Again, thank you for all of your efforts!

{Our architect recommended against hiring a construction manager saying we didn’t need it for “such a small project” (single family home renovation). Some time later, when we found ourselves almost a million dollars over our original budget, I called Richard again. If only we had him on board from the beginning, we would have realized that the budget was significantly underestimated and we could have changed course before the architectural plans were finalized. I regret not having Richard on the team from the beginning. Richard then helped us transition to owner-builders and taught me a few things in the process. I now know what’s involved in waterproofing a shower pan and I can speak confidently about left-hand versus right-hand door swings. Having Richard on your project is like having insurance against things going wrong.

{My husband and I both feel we owe Richard a deserving review for all that he’s done to help us with our home renovation project. Richard, in his very calm and systematic way, asked us to trust him which we agreed. We are in a much happier place now and would have NEVER gotten to this point had we not hired Richard.

{As we wind down, I must say that it has been a pleasure to work with you. You are detailed and precise (as I am, for better or worse) and very efficient. I would be happy to serve as a reference.
